General Privacy Policy
-
If you visit the CARES website to browse (i.e., read or download publicly-posted information), the CARES system does not collect or store any information about you.
- We do not use "cookies" in the public section of this site. (A "cookie" is a small text file that a website can place on your computer's hard drive in order to collect information about your activities on the site and transmit the information back to the website's computer.)
- If you contact us directly by email, we may reply to you, but we will not add your contact information to any mailing lists. If you send us an email, you should know that email is not secure against interception. If your communication includes sensitive information, contact us by postal mail or telephone rather than email.
-
The CARES website is hosted by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) which collects information from you when you visit CARES (IP address, page hits, etc.). The statistics available to the CARES webmaster do not include personal information on you, only general information about website usage.
- This website links to documents located on websites maintained by various organizations. Once you access an individual document that links you to another website, you are subject to the privacy policy of the website containing that document.
CARES Safety Alert Subscibers' Privacy Policy
-
Individuals who subscribe to the CARES Safety Alert Distribution Program submit their email address via the subscription form. Use of subscriber email addresses is restricted to email distribution of amusement ride safety bulletins. Subscriber information is not sold to, or shared with, other organizations. Subscribers who no longer wish to receive CARES Safety Alerts may opt out at any time by accessing the unsubscribe link provided at the bottom of each emailed alert.
CARES Members' Privacy Policy
-
Regulatory officials who join CARES, advisory board members, and others granted "member" status by CARES are assigned a username and password that provides access to the members-only section of the CARES website. The Login page offers members an opportunity to store their username and password in a cookie on their home computer. This is a convenience feature that saves members from having to remember and key-in their user parameters each time they access the website. Members may delete the CARES cookie file from their home computer at any time.
- Contact information for CARES members and advisory board members is stored in the CARES database, and may appear on the public and/or members-only sections of the website. Members who do not wish to have their contact information displayed on the website should contact CARES and ask that it be removed. The purpose of posting this information is to provide the public with contact information for amusement ride safety authorities in CARES member jurisdictions, and to allow CARES members to contact each other.
- CARES maintains an informal eGroup for use by CARES members and advisory board members. The eGroup runs off the public domain Mailman software. Participation is optional. Members may opt in or out as they wish.
- CARES Safety Alerts are emailed to all CARES members and advisory board members with an email address included in their contact information record. Members who wish to opt out of this feature should contact CARES.
- Use of member contact information is restricted to safety-related communication. Member information is not sold to, or shared with, other organizations.
